Font - I got fired yesterday I saw the writing on the wall and knew that this was coming despite all the damage control I tried to do to prevent it. To recap, I've been in multiple meetings, berated, micromanaged, and just told repeatedly to hurry up and find another job (my boss even offered to get me a job as a cashier at Home Depot), but it finally all came to a head yesterday morning.

Font - I got into the office at 8 am and did my usual morning routine before sitting down at my computer. The first thing I did was check my email and saw that I had a meeting request with my manager at 8:30 am that morning. I was like, "seriously? Yet another meeting?" but as I was looking over the details of the meeting, I noticed something was off. The room location said TBD. That was a major red flag to me as every time we had a meeting, we would always meet on the 9th floor, the floor my de

Font - notice that a couple of the meeting rooms say, "Available for the rest of the day". At this point, I knew something was off and I went to the bathroom, walked out, and found my manager. He began making small talk with me and we began walking towards the elevators. At this point, I knew that the time had come. I asked him, "That's odd, couldn't schedule an interview any of the usual rooms?" He told me, "I tried to but it said they were unavailable". I replied, "Well, I walked past some tha

Font - He asks me, "Got any big plans this weekend?". I tell him that I was in the process of moving and organizing everything to be ready for our move date next Friday. He goes, "that must be stressful." I tell him it was. We get out and go to some big conference room on the 2nd floor and there was an HR lady in there and my boss wastes no time in taking out a piece of paper and saying, "despite improvements in your performance, it's still not up to company standard. We will be ending your empl

Font - I felt defeated and demoralized because I went through hell at this job to prove myself and now I'm unemployed. However, I did some self- reflecting and realized I have plenty of opportunities now and I'm excited to see where life takes me. I'm happy to be out of a toxic environment where I felt like I wasn't wanted or appreciated. Now I'm going to make looking for a new job my full time job right now while I take care of my mental health and my personal life. Wish me luck!

Font - mar421 When your boss has been trash talking and suddenly is nice. That is a big red flag of stuff is about to go down. That is how my old bosses were all the time. They think I couldn't tell when they changed their tones. 174 AHogwartsDropout394 OP Oh for sure. The biggest disrespect was when he said "moving can be incredibly stressful" right before I got fired. These people have no heart. Font - Silver LiningSheep And this is exactly why you can't put in tons of effort at jobs anymore. I've seen people bend over backwards for jobs, only to get laid off or fired without warning. It's terrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that but also glad you got out of that crappy environment like you said. I hope you can get unemployment!! Reply Share 80

Font - tandyman8360 I had a job where the management was getting toxic. My response was to poke at my manager, HR and the CEO, which made me super popular /s After HR prevented me from applying for a different job, I told them their policy manuals were out of date and non- compliant. That's the closest I felt to being fired. I took all my stuff home at that point. The good news for me is that I was already looking for another job and got hired a few weeks after. The exit interview with HR was pr

Font - Apart-Thought-6585 I got out of my last job before the fell. I was micromanaged from day one and really struggled to fit in with the company culture. 19 Reply Share AHogwartsDropout394 OP. Same here. They all acted like a hive mind and when I struggled they'd rather treat me like shit and force me out than to help me. Reply Share 12

Font - Master-Role4289 In my experience (20 years/Employee Benefit Consultant) the moment you are put on a PIP (performance improvement plan) it's over. Meaning, one should start to find another job immediately. You should know this though, the fact that your boss repeatedly told you to find another job indicates that you were/are liked as a person. A classic "we really like this guy, but it's just not clicking" situation. I'm sure (because of your "like- ability") you will secure employment soo

Font - AdamJadam Employers claim it's performance issues so you can't sue them for wrongful termination and so they can push back and argue if and when you try and file for unemployment. The reality is more likely that they just want to bring in new people or downsize, and you ended up in the discard pile. They wouldn't let you get your stuff or meet up on the 9th floor because you're not the only one they kicked out that day and didn't want people to start talking or cause panic. Reply Share 58
